Spokane Home Education Conference Planned Eastern Washington Home Education Association (EWHEA) is planning an Eastern Washington home education conference on Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13th at the Spokane Hampton Inn. Drawing upon the wisdom of many veteran home educators (including several who have 20 years experience home educating) the conference will offer seminars and workshops of interest to those who are just thinking about home educating, those who are enrolled in Public School Alternative Education programs, and experienced home educators. Friday’s Keynote Address will be Home School vs. Public School Alternative Education: What’s the Difference? What are the Issues? The 9:30 a.m. talk will address one of today’s hottest home education issues. More and more school districts are offering these special "Home School" Alternative Education programs targeted at home school families. This is a must-hear presentation if your have been thinking of joining one of these programs, you have already enrolled in one, or you are a home education support group leader! Come learn about this issue from an expert, dynamic speaker! Among the other workshops and seminars planned are Yes, You Can Home School Successfully! Teaching Functional Grammar, Giving Your Students Spelling Power, Sew Smart: Teaching Sewing Skills in the Home School, WHY Natural Learning – Does it make sense? and Fractions the Way You Wish You Had Been Taught. In addition to a variety of seminars several home school suppliers will be on hand to make their home school materials available. In keeping with its mission to serve the home school community, there will also be an area in the exhibit area to help attendees connect with their local support group. The fee for attending the conference seminars on Friday and Saturday is $7.50 per day. EWHEA Members may register for the seminars for FREE. There is no charge for visiting the curriculum vendor hall or for parking at the event. For more information about the conference you may visit www.EWHEA.org on line or telephone 509-843-6098. #30#
